Implant-Supported Cantilevers in Partially Edentulous Patients – The Periodontal Perspective
This lecture provides various reasons to consider use of an implant-supported cantilever in partially edentulous patients. Valid reasons for this treatment strategy include a reduced number of implants, lower cost, decreased need for surgery, avoidance of vital structures, lack of adequate space, implant proximity concerns, and esthetic considerations. A variety of clinical cases are presented to demonstrate different approaches. This lecture also addresses the topic of treatment planning in view of the long-term prognosis, supported by evidence from published studies.
